The Frosh/Soph team kicked things off in dominating fashion, finishing 1st thru 6th (plus 8th place) and scoring a perfect 15 points. Dan Laskero set out with a purpose and was not going to be denied. In fact, Danny broke the sophomore course record (previously held by Sandburg great, Kevin Adamowski), winning the race with a sensational time of 15:53.
Following behind Dan was Chris Torpy in 2nd place with a time of 16:16. Next up was David Gleisner in 3rd (16:31), then Brandon Lukas in 4th (16:37), Paul Sieczkowski in 5th place (16:39), freshman Martin Skucas in 6th (16:45) and freshman Tom Marchese in 8th place (17:03).
You can watch the video of this record-breaking Frosh/Soph race.
Every one of those times was awesome! Great job by all seven of these guys. It's going to be fun to watch this group develop over the next 3 years.
The team was led by senior Will Becker, running his first race of the year after working himself back from a summer injury. Will ran a smart race & picked his way thru the field, finishing in 5th place with a time of 15:54. Finishing in 7th place overall was sophomore Max Lehnhardt with a time of 15:57. Mike Brower (14th place in 16:31), Matt Benz-Weeden (15th place in 16:33) and Brady Walter (18th place in 16:42) closed out the scoring for the Eagles. Adam Gleisner finished in 19th place (16:42) and Brian McMahon brought home 29th place in 16:58.
A great showing by this group - they allowed us to rest 5 of our top guys & still brought home the first place trophy.
Here's the video of the Varsity race (with the boys rockin' with Japandroids!).
Anthony Lifonti was our next finisher in 5th place (17:11), followed by Kyle Lahucik (6th place in 17:15), Nick Depesa (8th place in 17:18), Mario Lopez (9th place in 17:19), Patrick Foster (10th in 17:27), John Wagner (11th in 17:30), freshman Aidan Farley (17th in 17:49), Chris Mangold (celebrating his 18th birthday by finishing 18th & breaking 18:00 for the first time in 17:58), Kyle Stogin (19th in 18:00) and freshman Alex Szymanski (20th in 18:03).
What a spectacular day for the Sandburg Eagles. Now it's on to Peoria for the Richard Spring Invite!
