Normally, not a whole lot happens at a mid-week tri-meet. Get in a good workout, maybe shake off a little rust to get ready for the upcoming weekend meet. But after having two Invitationals cancelled the previous week, and with some unusually mild mid-April weather, Coach O'Malley decided to load up the 3200 race at Joliet Central on Tuesday, April 14th. The results speak for themselves:
Sean Torpy JR 9:26.32
David Gleisner JR 9:27.14
Chris Torpy JR 9:32.22
Max Lehnhardt JR 9:38.30
Tom Brennan JR 9:43.05
Brandon Lukas JR 9:44.32
Martin Skucas SO 9:45.14
Brady Walter SR 9:49.06
Dylan Jacobs FR 9:49.92
Dan Laskero JR 9:57.21
Paul Sieczkowski JR 9:58.39
Some of these are true break-through races. David Gleisner destroyed his previous PR in running a State Meet qualifying time. Paul Sieczkowski put out notice that he's not going to be a forgotten man these next 3 seasons. And freshman Dylan Jacobs continued to display his young talent. There were also a few guys that were very disappointed with these results. Given that only one of the eleven is a senior, almost everyone will be back for cross country and track next year. A very strong and deep distance squad.
Many of these efforts cracked the All-Time 3200 Performance list for Sandburg. Here's a link to the updated All-Time 3200 meter run list.
