It's probably not such a good idea to have two invitational track meets on the same night as Sandburg's Prom.
With most of the seniors dancing with their dates, the Sandburg Eagles travelled to two big meets on Friday night.
At the ultra-competitive Bob Cohoon invite at Downers Grove South, the team struggled a bit - ultimately finishing in 8th place with 31 points. Minooka took home the first place trophy with 108 points.
Highlights for Sandburg included a new sophomore school record in the 800 meter run set by Sean Torpy in a smokin' time of 1:56:56 - breaking the previous record of 1:58.5 set by Kevin Adamowski in 2005.
Not to be upstaged, Chris Torpy ran a sizzling 1600 meter race, finishing 3rd in 4:27.07.
On the sprint end of things, the 4 x 200 meter relay quartet of Dean Yozze, Jibreel Brown, Tamonte Brown & LaVelle Johnson raced to second place with a time of 1:31.32.
Complete Bob Cohoon results are here.
Over at the Tinley Park Relays, the Sandburg boys captured 7th place with 32 points - with Crete-Monee winning easily with 98 points.
Highest finishes in this relay-oriented event was the 3rd place finishes by the Long Jump crew and another 3rd place for the 4 x 1600 meter relay squad.
