It was Senior Night and we finally got some decent weather. And the Sandburg Eagles stayed red-hot at the Pete Struck Eagle Classic. The varsity squad remained undefeated, winning their own invite by 54 points over second place Thornridge (124 to 70).
With the legend himself, Pete Struck, officiating the meet, the boys posted some great results on a cool Thursday night.
Leading the way was Lemonte Booker who shattered his own school record in the Long Jump with a winning leap of 23' 4.5". Way to go Book!!!
Lemonte wasn't satisfied with just one record, so he teamed up with Lavelle Johnson, Jim Hill and Nick Malliaras in the 4x200 meter relay - breaking the school record in a time of 1:29.77. Their effort was good for another first place finish.
Additional invite champions included the 4x800 meter relay team of Sean Torpy, Joe Licata, Bill Sieczkowski & Aaron Graves with a winning time of 8:07.39, Nicholas Prajka (1:57.21) in the 800 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay team of Lavelle Johnson, Joe Licata, Matt Hetzler & Nicholas Prajka with a winning time of 3:26.93.
