Things got started with the Open race and Brady Walter showed that he has been training hard & improving by leaps & bounds. Brady knocked over 2 minutes off his 2012 time and finished in 3rd place with a time of 16:22. Next up was Matt Benz-Weeden (11th place in 16:47), Brian McMahon (17th place in 17:00), Kyle Lahucik (24th in 17:18) and Nick Depesa (26th in 17:21). Those five scorers helped to lead the Open boys to second place with 67 points).
Next up was the Varsity race and the Sandburg boys put themselves right in the mix. Sophomore Sean Torpy showed that he is ready to make a big jump this year with a 5th place finish in a great time of 15:17. Fellow super-soph Tom Brennan grabbed a top-10 finish with a 10th place time of 15:26. Junior Greg Burzinski finished in 14th place with a time of 15:41. He was followed by Justin Adams in 21st place in 15:48) and Harry Becker finished off the scoring with a 24th place finish and a time of 15:54. The Eagles ended up with the 2nd place trophy with 74 points, with Lincoln-Way Central just ahead with a total of 67.
Closing out a great day was the Freshman race. Martin Skucas ran away from the field and cruised to the victory in a winning time of 10:25. Tom Marchese ran tough and captured 4th place in 10:53. Aidan Farley closed well and gave the Eagles their third top-10 finisher (10th place in 11:15). Danny Pappan (24th place in 11:45) and Connor Burns (28th in 11:56) wrapped up the scoring for the freshman. The young Eagles finished in 2nd place with 56 points.

Overall, a very successful start to the season. It's going to fun to watch this team grow and succeed this year!
