The rain started as we arrived at the course and we scrambled to get the tents up so we could try to keep from getting totally soaked. Eventually the rain slowed and then stopped and the guys were able to get out and begin warming up for the first race. The new course - re-configured due to some changes made with the sports fields at Reavis - was in decent shape in spite of the weather, with only a few muddy spots to deal with.
The Frosh-Soph boys were up first and they got out well at the start. Robbie Sieczkowski did a great job leading our front pack and pushed the pace throughout the race. Down the finish straight, Nick Gonsch edged past Robbie to grab 4th place in 17:14. Robbie was next in 5th in 17:15. Freshman Nico Calderon was our 3rd finisher in 11th place in a time of 17:37. Next up was the much-improved Xander Furmanek in 14th place (17:40). Our 5th scorer was Ryan Wagner in 16th place in 17:48. Brendan Duffy (21st place in 18:01) and Patrick Morris (23rd place in 18:10) wrapped things up for the Eagles. The final score had Sandburg first with 50 points, Hinsdale South second with 76 and Lyons Township third with 79. Frosh-Soph results are here.
